'Bach Family'

Our Bach Family members give vital support to the whole range of our activities, from public concerts to charitable performances in hospices. As a Bach Family member you will receive advance information on forthcoming concerts and regular updates on what your money has enabled us to do, as well as an invitation to join us at our annual party.

Last year we held our 'Music & Madeleines' party Shardeloes near Amersham, where we were offered private access to some of the principal rooms for the 'Music & Madeleines' event. It took place on July 22nd, the Feast of Mary Magdalen, and this year's 'Magdalena Day' turned out to be an absolutely glorious summer's day - the first of the year. This was something of a miracle, considering the long period of dismal weather which lead up to it. The music performed was material which is presented in the 'Musical Offerings' - portable music with lute accompaniment - which also had the advantage of giving a very clear idea to our supporters what is performed on those occasions.

This year we were kindly invited by Lady and Sir Ivor Crewe to hold our party in the Master's Lodgings, University College, Oxford. Bach Family members joined Peter Harvey and the Magdalena Consort's Trustees on August 2nd for drinks, a variety of home made foods and our 'signature dish' of madeleines. Music was again provided - an afternoon Schubertiade on this occasion, with Lieder and Impromptus performed by Peter Harvey and the pianist Elena Vorotko.
